Definition of Square
A square is a plane (flat) shape with four straight sides that has the following properties:
- The lengths of all sides are equal.
- All of the interior angles are \(90^\circ\).
The diagonals of a square have equal length, and they also cut each other in half at right angles, but we don't need to know these things to identify a shape as a square.
A square is a quadrilateral (a 4-sided figure), a parallelogram, a rhombus, a rectangle and a regular polygon.
Description
The aim of this dictionary is to provide definitions to common mathematical terms. Students learn a new math skill every week at school, sometimes just before they start a new skill, if they want to look at what a specific term means, this is where this dictionary will become handy and a go-to guide for a student.
