Spring Balance

Definition of Spring Balance

Definition of Spring Balance

A spring balance is an instrument used to measure weight or force.

The weight (or Force) to be measured is placed on the hook at the bottom of the balance. This causes the spring inside the balance to stretch and move downwards.

The measurement is determined by the distance the spring inside the balance moves.

Another name for a spring balance is a Newtonmeter, because it also measures force in Newtons.
