Definition of Risk

Definition of Risk

A Risk is a chance that you might lose something.

For example, in investing, it refers to the likelihood that you might lose all or part of an investment.

For example, investing money in a bank account is a very low risk investment because the bank must have the backing of the Reserve Bank.

By contrast, investing money in a brand new building company is a high risk investement. The company might fail because it is so new, and may not be able to gain the business it requires to survive.
