Definition of Range of a Function

The range of a function is the set of all output values for the function.

For example, if the function \(f(x) = x + 4\) is given the input values \(x = \{1,2,4,6\}\), then its range is the set \(\{5,6,8,10\}\).

The range of the function \(y = x^3\) is the set of all real numbers.

Description

The aim of this dictionary is to provide definitions to common mathematical terms. Students learn a new math skill every week at school, sometimes just before they start a new skill, if they want to look at what a specific term means, this is where this dictionary will become handy and a go-to guide for a student.
