Definition of Dimension

A dimension is a direction in which a quantity can be measured.

Some examples of dimensions include width, depth and height. These are the dimensions that we use to describe objects in our everyday lives.

In geometry, we consider a point to have no dimensions, a line to have one dimension, a triangle to have two dimensions and a triangular prism to have three dimensions.

Physicists think of dimensions as any physical measurement such as time, mass or current.

In some branches of higher mathematics, mathematicians work in infinite dimensional spaces.
