Definition of Decimal Fraction

A decimal fraction is a fraction in which the denominator is a power of \(10\).

It is easy to write decimal fractions as decimal numbers, with a decimal point and no denominator. This makes it easier to do calculations with them.

For example,

  • \(\dfrac{3}{10}\) is a decimal fraction, with decimal representation \(0.3\).
  • \(\dfrac{53}{100}\) is a decimal fraction. It can be written as \(0.53\).
  • \(\dfrac{79}{1000}\) is a decimal fraction. It can be written in decimal form as \(0.079\).

Description

Students learn a new math skill every week at school, sometimes just before they start a new skill, if they want to look at what a specific term means, this is where this dictionary will become handy and a go-to guide for a studen
