Definition of Factorisation

Definition of Factorisation

Factorisation involves finding the numbers and expressions that multiply together to form a given expression.

For example, \(x^2 + 5x + 6 = (x + 3) (x + 2)\), so the factors of \(x^2 + 5x + 6\) are \((x + 3)\) and \((x + 2)\).

Another example is that \(2p + 14 = 2(p + 7)\). The factors of \(2p + 14\) are \(2\) and \((p +7)\).
