Definition of US Standard Units

US standard units are the units of measurement that are commonly used in the USA. They are basically the units of the Imperial System.

If you have any American friends or relatives, watch American TV programs or visit the USA, you will probably come across these units.

They include:

  • Volume: Fluid ounces, cups, pints, quarts and gallons
  • Length: inches, feet, yards and miles
  • Mass: ounces, pounds and tons
  • Temperature: Fahrenheit

Note: there are some differences between US standard units and other versions of Imperial System units. For example, a US gallon is smaller than a UK gallon.
