Triangle Inequality


The triangle inequality is a very useful result. It tells us that:

Any side of a triangle must be shorter than the combined lengths of the other two sides (that is, the lengths of the other two sides added together).

If one side was longer than the total of the lengths of the other two sides, we couldn't form a triangle because the other two sides couldn't meet. The picture shows an example of this.

Description

The aim of this dictionary is to provide definitions to common mathematical terms.
