Exponents and roots/4

If 4 raised to the power of 2 equals 16, then the square root of 16 is 4. A square root has a root index of 2. Looking at the picture above, notice the terms in yellow for exponents. The exponent or power is a number that tells us how many times to multiply the base by itself.
