# Definition of Number Sense

Number sense is the ability of a person to understand and use numbers. It includes

• Being able to compare numbers
• Being able to make judgements based on different values
• Working out the best strategies for adding, subtracting, dividing and multiplying numbers.
• Being able to estimate or measure effectively using numbers.

Oh, Alice! That wading pool is a long way down. Alice the cow may have a lot of number sense, but I don't think she has very much common sense!

### Description

The aim of this dictionary is to provide definitions to common mathematical terms. Students learn a new math skill every week at school, sometimes just before they start a new skill, if they want to look at what a specific term means, this is where this dictionary will become handy and a go-to guide for a student.
