Port Victoria Geology Trail
Port Victoria Geology Trail

The Port Victoria Geology Trail is a four kilometre unsealed path which heads south from the Port Victoria jetty to explore the quiet foreshore at the Rifle Butts Beach. 2000 million years ago volcanoes spewed ash and red-hot lava into the atmosphere and earthquakes shook the ground. Today the results can be seen along the trail.
You can collect a free information brochure about the trail available from the Foreshore Kiosk, the local caravan park, the supermarket or the Port Victoria Museum. As you walk along the trail meander down the many access points along the way which give you a closer look at the different types of rocks. For your convenience the points of interest are marked by large black boulders.
Please note the path is unsealed so care should be taken, particularly at the access points.
