Quilberry Creek Fishing
Quilberry Creek Fishing

On the way to the Opal fields of Quilpie, great Fishing can be found along the banks of Quilberry Creek just on the outskirts of Cooladdi (Aboriginal word meaning 'plenty of water').
Located near the Cooladdi Fox Trap, fishing could not be easier, all you need to do is turn up, throw your line in, sit back and relax. Species in the creek include Yellow Belly, Black Brim, Jew Fish and Murray Cod. If you happen to catch a Carp, please kill and burn this fish.
Originally the creek was known as the 'pump hole', as it was the watering place for the Railway steam engines on the Charleville-Quilpie line.
Free camping is permitted at this site.
