IB skill practice

Find angles between lines and planes

Use scalar products and normals to find angles involving lines and planes.

Paper 1, Paper 2 5 marks Difficulty 4

Find angles between lines and planes - visual projection meaning

A line has direction length 16, a plane normal has length 20, and \(|\mathbf{d}\cdot\mathbf{n}|=160\). Enter \(\sin\alpha\), where \(\alpha\) is the angle between the line and the plane.

Worked practice: result and interpretation

Calculate the requested result first, then choose the interpretation that follows from it.
