Kira was a little koala who lived high up in a tall gum tree. Every morning, she woke up and stretched her fluffy arms. She loved munching on eucalyptus leaves for breakfast.
But today was different. When Kira looked down, she saw something shiny on the ground below her tree.
Kira held on tight and slowly climbed down the tree. She had never been to the ground before! The grass tickled her paws and the dirt felt soft.
She walked over to the shiny thing. It was a small silver bell tied to a red ribbon.
Kira picked up the bell and gave it a shake. Ting-a-ling! It made the prettiest sound she had ever heard.
Just then, she heard footsteps coming closer. Someone was walking along the bush path!
A girl with a big hat and muddy boots came around the corner. She stopped and smiled when she saw Kira.
"That is my bell!" the girl said softly. "It fell off my backpack. Thank you for finding it, little koala!"
Kira held out her paw with the bell in it.
The girl reached into her bag and pulled out a fresh eucalyptus branch. "Here you go," she whispered.
Kira took the branch and hugged it close. Then she climbed back up her tall gum tree, happy and full.
From that day on, whenever the girl walked past, she always waved up at Kira. And Kira always waved back.
