Crookwell Wind Farm
Crookwell Wind Farm

The Crookwell Wind Farm is located five minutes drive from the heart of Crookwell township. The wind farm consists of eight wind turbines, and was the first grid connected wind farm in Australia when built by Pacific Power in 1998. They are only 45 metres high. Improvements in technology means the newer turbines are 145 metres high, making these look very small.

Crookwell Wind Farm currently supplies electricity to Country Energy's Green Power customers. If you look 10 kilometres further ahead into the valley, you will see more turbines which are over 175 metres high, in comparison to the Crookwell Wind Farm turbine's height of 45 metres.
