# Definition of Multiple

A multiple is the result of multiplying one integer by another integer.

The number grid on the left shows all the multiples of $3$ (highlighted in yellow) between $1$ and $100$.

Some other examples are the following:

• $18$ is a multiple of $9$ as $9 \times 2 = 18$.
• $-12$ is a multiple of $4$ as $4 \times -3 = -12$.
• $6$ is NOT a multiple of $5$ as $6 = 5 \times 1 + 1$.

### Description

The aim of this dictionary is to provide definitions to common mathematical terms. Students learn a new math skill every week at school, sometimes just before they start a new skill, if they want to look at what a specific term means, this is where this dictionary will become handy and a go-to guide for a student.
