Software testing terms starting with V

V Model

The V model is built upon on the basis of Waterfall model with few modifications. This is not designed in a linear axis form as compared to waterfall method. But it is designed by turning stages back upwards after the coding phase is completed so it shapes to V shape and hence called V model. The developmental process is balanced and relies on the verification from the previous steps before proceeding forward or backward. The model cycle has been divided into several phases and each one is supposed to yield predefined product output.

Validation Testing

The process of evaluating software builds during the development process or at the end of the development process to determine whether it meets specified business requirements of the customer. It can also be defined as to demonstrate that the product fulfills its intended use when deployed on different environment.

It answers to the questions like, Are we building in the right software product?

Verification Testing

Verification is the process of evaluating work-product for a development phase to determine whether they meet the specified set of requirements.

Verification ensures that the product is built on according to the requirement and design specification. It also answers to the questions like, Are we building the software product in right way?

Virtual Users

Virtual user is a common terminology used from a performance testing point of view. A Virtual user generator enables testers to create virtual users in order to increase the user load on the application under test.

Volume Testing

Volume testing method involves testing software applications or software products with a certain amount of heavy data. E.g., if we want to test applications with a specific database size, user need to expand the database to that size and then run tests on the application’s.

Vulnerability Testing

It is software testing method performed to evaluate the quantum of risks involved in the system in order to reduce the probability of the event.
