Waikato Coalfields Museum
Waikato Coalfields Museum
The Waikato Coalfields Museum is located just off State Highway 1 about 100 Metres North of Huntly's township. Huntly is 50 minutes South of Auckland and 30 minutes North of Hamilton.
124 years ago a homestead was built for the first coal mine manager of Huntly - William Tattley.
Now it is home to various collections of photos, oral histories, family histories and artefacts that bring to life Huntly's unique coal mining history.
Opened in November 1980, the Huntly Cultural and Mining Museum is a non-profit community organisation that relies on donations and grants to provide these important services for generations to come.
