About this worksheet
Suits Years 2 to 6Like matching pairs, with a third column: word, definition and example sentence, shuffled into three columns for students to connect across the page.
The third column raises the stakes honestly: a child can sometimes guess one link, but joining all three correctly means the whole idea is understood.
How to make your worksheet
- Fill parts A, B and C so each line makes a matching trio across the three columns.
- Choose the activity type, then press Generate.
- Students draw lines connecting the three matching items.
The maker lays your own words and passages out as a clean sheet, ready to print on A4.
Common questions
What trios work well?
Word, meaning, example sentence is the classic. Others: base word, suffix form, sentence using it; animal, home, baby name; character, book, author. Anything that comes in natural threes.
Is three-way matching too hard for young students?
Start them on pairs, and bring in triples once pair-matching is comfortable. For Years 3 and up, triples are usually the more interesting sheet, not the harder one.
